Rollow up to their debut CD, "A Soulful Journey", BURT CONRAD ALL STARS deliver a dynamic collection of funky originals and jazz, blues and rhythm and blues standards on "Forward Looking Backwards". This mature, masterfully engineered and produced CD has a little something for everyone's taste. Opening track, "5 to 4" is a blazing smooth jazz original with Burt Conrad blowing a Miles Davis influenced trumpet on his guitar synthesizer. The groove on this number will make you want to jump out of your seat and dance. Reggae tune, "Let The Rain In" takes you right to the islands with a plaintiff cry of “Let the rain in to wash away my tears”. "Let Love In" is Burt Conrad singing at his best on a moving contemporary pop track…"Let love in...it will take you to places you've never been...don’t be afraid...love will show you the way".
Renditions of jazz standards Stanley Turrentine’s “Sugar” and Charles Lloyd’s “Forest Flower” make you feel like you’re awash in a “silky chocolate pudding”. Brazilian star Raquel Lima guests on the swinging Conrad penned bossa nova “Take My Hand” glorifying the love of God. Conrad ballad “When Will I Find Her” chills the soul with desire for that special someone. Blues classics “Thrill Is Gone” and “Born Under A Bad Sign” are uniquely soulfully performed while R&B standards “Green Onions” and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” are performed with signature “ALL STAR” funkiness. The CD closes with another Conrad penned tune “Travel Mercies”. This time Conrad offers up a thematic melody bound to comfort you in today’s stressful times. All and all, this is another “must buy” CD from a group of legendary all star musicians.
